American YouTuber, Jake Paul, defeated ex-UFC star, Nate Diaz, by a unanimous decision in a much-awaited showdown in Dallas.
The judges’ scorecards reflected the rather one-sided victory, detailing scores of 97-92, 98-91, and 98-91.
The spectacle marked Diaz’s first bout since his UFC departure and boxing debut to a Texan crowd overwhelmingly favoring him. Despite this, Diaz’s effort lacked the potency to deal significant damage to his competitor.
Jake Paul, turning a deaf ear to vehement jeers and chants throughout the fight, came out triumphantly against the crowd favorite, Diaz.
Bringing Diaz to his knees in the fifth round, Paul demonstrated his superiority in the 10-round contest.
However, Diaz displayed determination as he rose to his feet and lasted till the final bell, despite falling short on the judges’ tally.

Crowds championed Diaz, while Paul, happy playing the villain’s part, met with booing and ‘f*** Jake Paul’ chants.
Undeterred, Paul lightly mocked the spectators during an after-fight interview saying, “boo if you’re a virgin,” followed by a sarcastic laugh.

The YouTuber has enticed Diaz with a $10m offer for a cage match under MMA rules. Meanwhile, a rematch against Tommy Fury, World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Tyson Fury’s half-brother, may also be in the cards.
Post-fight reactions had Paul reiterating his desire to face Diaz in the cage. Despite his initial hesitations, Diaz finally accepted the offer after his defeat. However, it was clear that he was not wholly convinced the fight would come to fruition.
To the surprise of none, Jake Paul secured another victory, notching a commendable performance. Boasts of sloppy errors from both sides tainted the fight despite its significance.
Round 10 saw Diaz, slightly disheartened, attacking Paul and landing a solid hit. Paul regained balance by clinching to halt the wobble. The knockdown awarded to Paul might play a pivotal role in the final decision.
Now with his focus on an MMA match with Diaz and Fury’s possible rematch, Jake Paul aims to add more feathers to his cap in the forthcoming years.
